Using comic life was fun. It was easy to use and I really think the children will enjoy using it and making their own comic sheets. I can use comic life in so many units about bugs, shapes, lines, really anything that the students can use a camera and connect with their surroundings. The students would really enjoy having a shape walk or whatever the unit may be. The children would love just exploring with not only the unit and connecting it with their world, but working with technology. The students knowledge would be put to the test and they would become the teacher teaching themselves and other what they have learned. Children will be responsible for there own learning and in a way that they understand. This comic life was not only fun for me, but it was very easy and simple to use. If learning how to use this was simple for me, children will be able to use it with ease. I had fun exploring and discovering the ideas and concepts with this program and I used my prior knowledge to help me in creating the page. I am positive that the children will do the same.

I will be teaching 2nd grade. Some standards I will be covering with be the relationships between plants and animals and the cycles of these plants. A good website is the Build a Prairie. The website can get a little frustrating, however, it does contain good information about plants and animals. Another standard is developing a sense of self n relation to families and different communities. I think the Williams Burg activities were great matching and literacy tools about the community. It also gives the students a feel of the colonial life and what they would have to do in that era. This site provided many levels for different levels of students. Other websites are really not very applicable to the grade level.

The standard that I want to focus on is helpings students develop a sense of self, through the objective of adopting and basic safety habits (wear seatbelts, practice bike safety, crossing the street)

Task I was thinking could be demonstrating the basic seatbelt habits, and having them practice correct bike safety by giving them situations in which they can move the character step by step through the correct process of these certain  safety habits.

Some ideas I have for the webquest is learning about safety habits, this is a core standard for 2nd grade which I will be teaching. Some activities ideas I have are coming up with situations where the children will learn about which safety habits are helpful in which situations. Also, ways to prevent accidents for happening. Help them to recognize how they can help themselves and each other in an emergency situation.

The website evaluations were helpful. They were not to lengthly and they helped me to see if the website was good quality or if it was just another website. Some of the things I disliked about the forms was that they were not always printer friendly. I counln't even upload one. There were some hidden secrets that I never really thought to check. Such an example would include when it was last updated, and finding the author can sometimes be tricky and I had a difficult time finding some of the authors. The value of using the website evaluation process is helpful. It made me more aware of what really makes a quality website. Some of these evaluations I wouldn't use if I have already used the website before or I know that it is a quality website from others. I would use the evaluation process to help me when I am doing lessons, or looking for information that I need to make sure is quality and is the most up-to-date.

Spreadsheets are interesting! However, including it in my 1st to 2nd grade classroom could be challenging. However, I believe that they could use the spreadsheet if I had it more set up for them, such things as setting up the formulas. The students could take surveys and see how pie chats, along with other charts. Students can also see how numbers, percentages, averages can impact and affect their chats. In short, they see mathematical terminology and their how to use these and see how they work. Children will visually see the impacts that technology as well as math have on their lives, and how fun it can be.

I think word processing can help my 2nd graders with creative writing. As demonstrated in class, we had fun and many creative fun juices were flowing. The children will also learn how to use word processing, yes they are young, but I feel they can use it somewhat. The children can at least type a sentence. The point I'm trying to make is that the children will get familiar with word processing and can feel free to explore and discover the methods of typing and processing. Children will see how computers can be fun and can help them communicate with each other and the world around them.

I was so impressed by what the YETC has to offer. I had no idea that there are so many resources literally at my fingertips. I found the resources very valuable, especially the "PHUN" download, and the NASA download. Both were very insightful and very interesting. I want to include those in my classroom and have my students see what they can do and see how technology has made such a difference in understanding things. I also believe that many of those tools are so helpful for students to be able to manipulate the media so they can have hands on experiences and learn how is developmentally appropriate for them. One thing that I found disappointing about today is that I didn't know half of the sources that were even available to me. I had no idea that some were free and that some were really easy to use. The YETC should really broadcast the things they have to offer because I am sure many students were in my same situation; didn't know where to go, or even how to do it.

UEN I think is a wonderful resource. I loved the web-cam idea. As a teacher I could have a guest visitor all the time, the children would have a kick out of it. I will use the "create a lesson plan" and get inspiration for other lesson plans. I think it will be such a great resource and will help me in my lesson planning adventures, especially when I'm a new teacher and need helpful suggestions on what to do. With UEN there are many resources that will be useful to me. The pioneer library will also be very helpful in finding information and using that information in my lesson plans and to use as other resources for my classroom. I feel that once I explore UEN more I will find more information to help me be a better more creative teacher.

After looking at the websites about how teachers used blogs to help their classroom it was amazing to see what interesting things teachers came up with to help their students to feel more comfortable or to help teach a concept. I love the idea that Mrs. Drexler used, she had here old students write letters to her new students on what to expect and how much fun they would have. Other teachers used this as a newsletter to parents. One of my favorites was video clips that the teachers did for parents that they put on their blogger.
